Not feelin it

The entire piece felt very slow. I like the video game style, but perhaps you could try speeding it up and adding a lead to it.

Some gaps and hesitation

I couldn't help but notice there were a few gaps and hesitations, especially at the very beginning that make it sound like you looped it :\

joehorizon responds:

No loops. Don't know how to do that yet. I'm old and don't care. The gaps you hear are me missing the strings due to being under the influence of my favorite lunch: Budwieser.

Fantastic playing, recording needs work

Ok, maybe I can help.
Firstly, try using one of these mics(listed in order of how good they sound for brass)
AKG C-12VR
Coles 4038
Neumann UM57
Royer 121
Second, You are going to want to record in a much larger room than you would for, say, a guitar. My advice: try and find a quiet room in your house with no windows or exterior walls, shut off all computers, fans, air conditioners, or other noisemakers, (lining the walls with carpet also helps) and position the mic close to the instrument. Have a second person outside the room at the terminal to record. For software, I personally use Pro Tools LE 8, although I will mention that the microphone preamps on the M-box are, well... shitty. Try Ableton live, or similair. You will need a decent preamp, and something to go from the preamp to your computer. Also, have your person at the terminal monitor the sound. Get as close as possible to the mic, with the preamp up as far as possible WITHOUT CLIPPING. This will eliminate some of the hollow sounds.
Hope that helps.

AccountableMasses responds:

Yeah, there's a lot of noise in this place (TV going, pet bird squawking it's head off, etc) . Any editing done in FL8 is mostly for that reason.
Current set up is a decent vocal mic from a local music shop, locked up in a gum ball dispenser.
Stuffed with rags to help cut down the distortion.
Works for a saxophone, but trumpet/cornet still a problem.

Don't know how would be able to record it like you mentioned.
Almost all the rooms have what you mention (windows, exterior walls, small rooms) and the only computer around to record with is in the noisiest part of the house. But a pre amp idea might help.

Anyways, thanks for the review.

Sincerely
A.M.
